Sindh to Cali: Following Traditions

{Indian-American Sindhi Bride Shares her Wedding Experience in the USA}

“In Sindhi culture it’s important for the groom’s family to not only ask for the bride’s parents for her hand in marriage, but the bride’s grandparents too. My husband made my family fall in love even more with him when he travelled from Southern California to Northern California to request their blessings…on his own. I nor anyone else in my family knew he was going to do that.

These small gestures are actually mean a lot. They indicate that even though we were born and raised in the US we have not forgotten our roots.”

My Indian American Life is a collaboration with 3 Curious Monkeys on sharing sweet stories that shape the South Asian diaspora in the US.
