An Auspicious Wedding Time is Important

{Indian-American Telegu Bride Shares About Setting Her Wedding Date in the USA}

Leaving India and moving to the US, adjustments have to made. However when it came to setting the date and time for my wedding, per my parents strict tradition had to be followed. The auspicious day ended up being a Sunday, which for weddings in the US isn’t that convenient as everyone has to work the next day. Plus, many of our guests are going to be traveling to attend, so they’ll probably have to take time off of work.

But we didn’t budge. That tradition is just too important to compromise. We knew that our closest friends and family who really wanted to be there wouldn’t let Sunday be a barrier.

My Indian American Life is a collaboration with 3 Curious Monkeys on sharing sweet stories that shape the South Asian diaspora in the US.
