Flooring for Outdoor Sikh Weddings

This article is about how to create comfortable flooring for outdoor sikh weddings. Some time ago, we featured a Sikh wedding that was not held at a Gurdwara but at a resort in Southern California. The couple wanted to have a traditional Sikh wedding ceremony while taking advantage of the gorgeous SoCal weather, so they had to figure out how to seat guests comfortably on the ground.

Tips for Non-Gurdwara Anand Karaj

The venue’s ceremony space was an open field of grass. They worked with the team at KUMBA Entertainment to make a floor out of plywood that was covered with carpet.

Note: not every venue will allow this as it has the potential to damage their grass. Not only that but they can’t water that area for a couple days beforehand either. In fact, at this wedding, the bride shared that literally the minute the ceremony was finished, the venue’s staff moved in to tend to the grass.

ProTip: For a Sikh wedding, designate a place for shoes since they cannot be work during the ceremony. You don’t want a bunch of shoes in your wedding photos!

ProTip: Also nice, as you can see in the photo below, they placed matching pillows across the ceremony space.
