This is a true story. It doesn’t have anything to do with Indian weddings but it does relate to the hospitality industry. And I wanted to share this with ShaadiShop readers because it’s something we can all relate to. And please comment or email us with your favorite desi’s helping desi’s story.
My credit card was stolen and I didn’t even know it. I still had my physical credit card, safely tucked away in my wallet. So technically the credit card number and info were stolen. And someone used my info on a fake credit card.
The thing that makes this story so great, is how the theft was discovered.
As we know a lot of desis are in the hotel/motel business. And that’s how my stolen credit card was discovered. The Uncle working registration at a small hotel in Anaheim, California, saw my name “Samta Jain” on the credit card and knew something was off when the non-Indian man tried to use that card to book a room.
The Uncle confiscated the card and contacted my credit card company, who then informed me. Up to that point I had no idea about the theft. So I was even more grateful that he contacted the credit card company otherwise, there probably would have been even more bogus charges to my card.
It’s great being desi, sharing a bond and helping other desis too.
