{About Kevin & Megha}
They dated for 9 years before getting engaged last year. Bringing together Megha’s Gujarati-Indian-Jain background and Kevin’s Iranian background, this is truly a union of two beautiful and ancient cultures. Enjoy Megha’s telling of how Kevin proposed.
Kevin and I met on December 31, 2005 at a mutual friend’s New Year’s Eve party. Throughout our years of dating, I’d given hints here and there of how I wanted him to propose. For instance, I always envisioned my close friends and family being there to celebrate with us.
As our 9 year dating anniversary approached, I had a feeling the proposal was going to happen but wasn’t sure how or when. I assumed that since we were going out of town, it would happen on the trip. A week before the trip, he asked me if I wanted to go to dinner with his parents. I agreed, and we planned to go to Orange Hill restaurant. A beautiful venue nestled in the Orange Hills. He mentioned to me a few times to dress up as his mom wanted to take pictures of us to send to their relatives. But I didn’t catch on to anything.
We arrived at the restaurant and got seated at a table with a view of the city. As we sat down, Kevin’s mom called him and informed him that they’d be late as his grandmother wasn’t feeling well. She told us to go ahead and eat without them and that they’d meet us after dinner. After we ate, Kevin got up to wash his hands and said that since he was going to walk by our server, he would place our dessert order. I didn’t think twice about it and just agreed. Two minutes later, Kevin came back…along with 40 of our family and friends!
A cake was placed in front of me that read “Megha, will you marry me?”. Kevin was on one knee with a ring in his hand. I couldn’t believe it! I knew the day was coming but I absolutely did not think it was happening that night at dinner! I was so surprised and just sat there trying to make sense of everything. I can’t even remember what he said to me! As I finally realized what was happening, I said yes..well, more like I nodded and whispered, “yes”. I couldn’t believe it! After all these years I was going to marry the man of my dreams! And he made my proposal dream come true too! I was so excited that all my friends and family were there to celebrate our special moment with us! I’m so grateful to them for taking time out to be a part of our special day. I can’t wait for our wedding in September!
