Avoid Colored Lighting at Your Reception

Geeta Randery, the principal photographer and owner of Randery Imagery recommends to avoid colored lighting all around at your reception, as well as for indoor ceremonies.

At most venues, (at hotels for sure) ballroom house-lights are Tungsten (orange); by adding pink, green, or any other colored lights to the ambiance, the skin tones in your photos and video are going to be permanently off white-balance (that’s not good).

Notice minimal uplights along the ceiling and the rest is all the venue’s built-in lighting.

So, when considering lighting, ensure the color(s) match the ballroom lights or what your lighting vendor is using.

Notice how the draping colors pop with natural lighting vs. colored lights. The draping itself provides all the color you need.
