I was at a wedding recently and guests had to wait a really long time before dinner was served.
There was an elaborate, gorgeous dessert display and a staff member guarded the table to stop guests from taking the items.
However, at some point, people were just too hungry and a handful of guests helped themselves to dessert which set off a domino effect, as all 400 or so guests followed suit.
Dinner was served about an hour later. But since it was a Sunday night and many people had to catch flights the next morning or drive 1-2 hours to get home, left before dinner was even served.
Lesson Learned: work closely with your caterer to schedule meals so they’re served in a timely manner.
